Dane Cook’s Funny Money Documentary Leads Netflix’s Friday Lineup

Netflix lists Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story for November 6, alongside Carolina Caroline, Possible Love and two other documentaries.

Netflix added Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story to its U.S. November lineup for Friday, November 6. The documentary follows the comedian’s rise and a family betrayal that Netflix says cost him millions. It is one of several titles the service lists for the same Friday, alongside scripted films and other documentaries.

For viewers who remember Cook from his stand-up shows, the new release offers his account of what was happening away from the stage. The title can sound like a comedy special if you see it in a crowded streaming menu. Netflix identifies it as a documentary, with Cook revisiting his career and the financial fallout in his family.

What Funny Money covers

Netflix’s description follows two threads: the move from performing stand-up to wider fame, and the family conflict that came with a major financial loss. The first provides the career context for the second. Viewers coming to the film for the personal story can expect Cook’s perspective on those events.

The subtitle is the easiest way to distinguish this release from similarly named titles. Search for Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story or open the Netflix title page directly. The November calendar lists November 6 for the U.S. release.

Two scripted films arriving the same day

Netflix’s list also includes Carolina Caroline, a crime story that begins with a road trip. A woman joins a con artist, learns how he works and finds that what started with smaller offenses has escalated into increasingly dangerous robberies. It’s the choice on the list for viewers looking for a fictional story about people drawn deeper into a scheme.

Possible Love, directed by Lee Chang-dong, follows two couples whose lives intersect. A man who has lost his job and his wife meet a documentary filmmaker and her husband. Netflix identifies Lee as the director of Burning, which gives viewers familiar with that film another way to find this one.

More nonfiction on the November 6 list

Netflix also lists Under Siege, about the 1985 siege of Colombia’s Palace of Justice. The documentary’s focus is the event and its consequences, including questions that remained long afterward. That gives it a very different subject from Cook’s first-person career story, even though both are listed as documentaries.

Unprotected: Murder in Galicia is another nonfiction entry in the same November 6 group. Its title and subject put it in the true-crime portion of the list. If several of these titles appear together in the app, the full titles and Netflix’s descriptions are useful for picking out the release you meant to open.

The date here is the U.S. listing. Netflix’s November calendar is also the place to check titles scheduled for other days this month. For this Friday, start with the Cook title page if you want the career and family documentary, or use the calendar to compare the other releases arriving on the same date.

If you are choosing a film for a shared watch, the release calendar can help narrow the choices before you open the app. Friday’s titles cover stand-up history, a road-trip crime story and a historical documentary, so the common release date is about all they have in common.
