Pep Guardiola has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester City, extending his stay until the summer of 2026. Notably, this contract does not include a break clause should the club face relegation from the Premier League due to potential financial misconduct.
Manchester City is currently defending against over 130 charges brought by the Premier League, which the club denies. If found guilty, the consequences could include demotion from the top division.
Despite these uncertainties, Guardiola has expressed his willingness to manage City even in a lower league. When questioned about his future should City be relegated, he stated, “I will not consider my future if it depends on being here (Premier League) or being in League One. There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League.”
Since taking charge in 2016, Guardiola has led City to numerous victories, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup.
