Evan Ferguson’s potential has attracted interest from several clubs, despite his recent struggles. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bayer Leverkusen showed interest when Brighton considered offers for the striker during the winter transfer window. Eventually, West Ham secured Ferguson on loan, providing a fresh start for the player and a solution to their injury crisis.
West Ham’s head coach, Graham Potter, emphasized focusing on Ferguson’s enjoyment of football rather than worrying about a permanent transfer. Potter is cautious about starting Ferguson immediately due to his recent ankle injury and the absence of key players like Niclas Füllkrug and Michail Antonio.
Ferguson, once compared to Harry Kane, experienced a decline in form after a promising start in the 2022-23 season. His performance waned, and he struggled to fit into Roberto De Zerbi’s style at Brighton. Injuries further hampered his progress, and he found himself behind other forwards in the team.
Injuries have hampered Evan Ferguson’s progress in the last couple of years.
Potter, who gave Ferguson his debut at Brighton, remains confident in his abilities. He believes Ferguson’s understanding of the game and finishing skills are exceptional for his age. Potter aims to help Ferguson regain his form by ensuring he plays regularly and enjoys his football.
