Social Security November 2026: Payment Dates and SSI Shift
November’s SSI was scheduled for October 30, and one Social Security payment moves to Tuesday. Check the dates that apply to your beneficiary group.

November’s Social Security payment calendar includes an early Tuesday deposit for one group of beneficiaries and no regular Supplemental Security Income payment dated within the month. The Social Security Administration’s 2026 schedule shows that November’s SSI payment was scheduled for October 30, while the first birthday-based Social Security payment is November 10.
The distinction matters for households matching benefit deposits to rent, utilities and other monthly bills. An October deposit for November does not represent an extra month’s SSI, and the absence of a November 1 payment does not, by itself, mean a benefit has been stopped.
The calendar also should not be confused with the recently announced increase for next year. The 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027 is separate from this month’s payment dates.
November’s payment dates, by beneficiary group
For beneficiaries on the usual birthday-based schedule, the payment day depends on the birth date used for the benefit. Social Security normally pays these groups on the second, third or fourth Wednesday, with a holiday exception affecting the first group this November.
- October 30: The regular SSI payment for November, issued before the month began.
- November 3: Social Security for people who received it before May 1997, or who receive both Social Security and SSI.
- November 10: The birthday-based group for dates from the 1st through the 10th.
- November 18: The birthday-based group for dates from the 11th through the 20th.
- November 25: The birthday-based group for dates from the 21st through the 31st.
November 10 is a Tuesday. The usual second Wednesday falls on Veterans Day, November 11, so that group’s payment moves to the preceding day.
SSA’s payment rules explain that a Wednesday payment falling on a federal holiday is sent on the preceding day that is not a federal legal holiday. The other two birthday-based payments remain on Wednesdays this month.
The distinction between the November 3 group and the birthday-based groups is important. Someone who receives both programs should not use a birthday alone to assume that their Social Security payment belongs in the November 10, 18 or 25 group.
Why November’s SSI arrived in October
November 1, 2026, falls on a Sunday. SSI ordinarily arrives on the first of the month, but SSA moves it to the last business day before that date when the first is a weekend or federal holiday.
That is why October 30 appears in the November benefit picture. In its explanation of months with two SSI payments, SSA says this adjustment prevents recipients from having to wait beyond the first of the month for their money.
The agency also makes clear that the earlier payment is not a duplicate benefit. It is the next month’s payment arriving in the previous calendar month, so receiving it early does not create an additional monthly entitlement.
For a household reviewing its bank statement, the useful distinction is the month the money covers, rather than simply the month in which the transaction appears. October’s later SSI deposit belongs to November’s regular schedule.
SSI provides monthly payments to eligible people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income or resources. It is a different program from Social Security retirement benefits, even though SSA administers both and some people receive both.
SSI amounts can depend on income, living arrangements, resources and other factors. A calendar adjustment explains the timing of a scheduled payment; it does not explain an individual change in eligibility or the amount someone receives.
The 2027 increase does not change November’s calendar
SSA’s 2027 fact sheet sets the cost-of-living adjustment, commonly called COLA, at 3.6%. The adjustment is based on the change in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers between the third quarters of 2025 and 2026.
The fact sheet estimates that the average retired-worker benefit payable in January 2027 will rise from $2,095 to $2,170. Those figures are averages across beneficiaries, not a promise that every retired worker will receive that amount.
It also lists the maximum federal SSI payment standard for 2027 as $1,029 for an individual and $1,544 for a couple. Those are federal standards, not the amount every recipient will receive, because individual circumstances affect payments.
Neither the new percentage nor those January figures changes which November date applies to a beneficiary. The current month’s calendar and next year’s benefit adjustment answer two different questions: when money is scheduled and how benefit amounts change.
What SSA says to do if a deposit is missing
For an electronic payment that has not arrived on its scheduled date, SSA’s missing-payment guidance says to contact the bank or financial institution first. A delay in posting the payment may be the reason it is not yet visible.
If the payment is still missing, SSA directs beneficiaries to call 1-800-772-1213 or contact their local Social Security office. The agency says it will review the case and replace the payment if it is due.
Check the correct beneficiary group before treating a payment as late. In particular, November’s SSI was scheduled before November began, and the earliest birthday-based Social Security payment is a Tuesday this month.
